Bulgaria

This is where one of my biggest clients is located for work. Well maybe not the biggest, but certainly one of the loudest. Ever since I heard we had a client in Bulgaria, I wanted to go and visit them onsite and see what it was like over there. I don't really know why. Partly because I want to explore more of eastern Europe. Partly because I know nothing about the place.. except, well the name sounds cool. Partly because it will mean a lot more frequent fly points and a stopover to see some friends on the way there or the way back.

So I only just landed back home in Vancouver from a trip to China, and BOOM. confirmation I am headed to Bulgaria. and turns out this time the stopover to see some friends will be on the way home, and overnight in Amsterdam. Nice.

I'll miss my one month anniversary as my lovely new wife reminds me. .... I'll miss opening week of the ski hills I remind her back. We decide that's about even.

I decided to start doing a bit of a google image search on what I could expect to see in Bulgaria. I'll have a bit of time on either side of the work and flights to explore the place. I'm flying into Sofia, so thats my first search - and wow, unsurprisingly 1000's of pictures of Sofia Vergara. Pretty sure I am not going to run into her while I am there. Sofia, Bulgaria.. gives me a lot of pictures of this one church. Must be pretty special, maybe I'll go take a few pictures of it while I am there. How about I search for Bulgaria? Okay, the standard pictures of maps, more pictures of my church,  and the country flag.. scrolling down though I find a bunch of pictures of skeletons. Thats a bit disconcerting. Apparently though they found a vampire skeleton recently with a stake through its heart. Less disconcerting, more cool.

Seems Sofia might be pretty quiet in terms of things to see, so I'm hoping the food is a little more exciting. I missed eating deep fried creepy crawlies in China and wouldn't mind a culinary adventure soon..
